Ag Awareness Day Brings Agriculture to East Bank
The Agricultural Education Club hosted the eighth annual Ag Awareness Day on April 11, 2017. This event took place at the Northrop Plaza on East Bank, and gave the 1,500 attendees a chance to visit with students and ask questions of industry professionals while learning about the many aspects that make up the agriculture industry. The event also featured interactive booths that included dairy cows, beef cattle, pigs, lambs and goats.
Participating industry organizations included the Minnesota Farmers Union; Minnesota Pork Board; Minnesota Corn Growers Association; Minnesota Department of Agriculture; Cornercopia Student Organic Farm; Minnesota Soybean; Minnesota Lamb and Wool Producers; Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center; Minnesota 4-H; Minnesota Beef Council; Upper Midwest Agricultural Safety and Health; AURI; Migrant Farm Workers in the United States; Minnesota Wild Rice Council; Minnesota Canola Council; Southern Minnesota Sugar Beet Cooperative; Midwest Llama Association; and Midwest Dairy.
Event leaders were Paige Hildebrandt and Haely Leiding (overall co-chairs), Megan Schulte (communication chair), Kayla Leiding (communication chair), and Amber Cafferty (education chair).
