Sneak Preview Brings High School Students to Campus
The fourth annual Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing (AECM) Sneak Preview Day for high school students in grades 9-12 was held Monday, November 7, 2016. Though fall is a very busy time for individuals throughout our state, we were pleased to welcome four students, along with their parents, to the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul Campus. While the potential students were here, they had the opportunity to connect with current AECM students, as well as faculty and staff.
The participants listened to current AECM students Breannca Bussert, Rachel Engel, Thane Ewald, Heather Franke, Kevin Lapham, Brianna Opdahl, Micah Twedt, and Elizabeth Wilts share their internship experiences that showed the wide diversity of careers in the agriculture industry. They also visited with Dan Hayes, Paige Hildebrandt, Janelle Hueners, Morgan Krause, Joe Ramstad, Natalie Resch, and Patrick Thofson about student organizations, study abroad opportunities, campus life and resources, Agricultural Education club, and career opportunities.
The participants then joined the AFEE 5111W class for a facilitation led by current ACM student, Christina Olson. Parents had the opportunity to participate in a “Supporting Your Ag Ed Student” session, and then the entire group had the option to tour the beautiful St. Paul Campus.
