There are over 600 University of Minnesota student organizations (including many CFANS student organizations!), clubs, professional organizations, and honor societies as well as 2,500 intramural sports teams on campus. You're sure to find one that fits your interests!
Consider joining one or two organizations your first year to compliment your university experience. On campus, you will find our students active in the St. Paul Student Board, Agricultural Education Club, fraternities and sororities, Bailey Hall, Office of Admissions Tour Guides, and many other organizations! Read more about a few of these opportunities below. Students in Agricultural Education also help with the Roland Peterson Agricultural Education Science Fair.
Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing Club
The Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing Club is the oldest club on the St. Paul Campus and is open to anyone and everyone interested in Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing and FFA; you don't have to be an Agricultural Education or Agricultural Communication and Marketing major! We work with the Minnesota FFA Association and host a Fall and Winter Invitational, as well as assist with State Convention in the spring. The club networks with other colleges across the state and maintains relationships with agricultural companies. Fantastic opportunities await you in the Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing Club! Members have traveled to Chicago, Costa Rica and Switzerland for educational study tours. Members may also have the opportunity to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN. To learn more about the Agricultural Education, Communication and Marketing Club, visit its Facebook page or email AECM@umn.edu.
Alpha Tau Alpha
Alpha Tau Alpha (ATA) is a National Professional Honorary for Agricultural Education. The Organization plays a vital role in the preparation of those who have chosen a major in Agricultural Education (teacher licensure) or Agricultural Communication and Marketing. At the national level, members from University of Minnesota-Twin Cities have competed in the events of debate team, quiz bowl, and program of excellence. These contests are typically offered in conjunction with the National FFA Convention during ATA National Conclave.
CFANS Student Ambassadors
The CFANS Student Ambassadors are a voluntary, honorary organization consisting of undergraduate students from the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) at the University of Minnesota. They assist in promoting the College to prospective students and their parents, alumni, potential donors, and friends of the College and University of Minnesota. Members participate in several events throughout the year and help host the annual State FFA Convention. Students who join this organization are usually outgoing, helpful and love the “U”. Every year, there are a significant amount of Ag Ed students who participate in this organization! Learn more.
