Biography

Background
I grew up in Hastings, MN as the oldest of two sisters. When I was in the 5th grade, I got introduced to the 4-H program by showing beef cattle in Washington county. I immediately fell in love with everything the livestock and agriculture industry had to offer. I wanted to be involved in everything that I could and spent countless hours out in the barn working with my animals.

From there, my sister and I added market lambs to our show string. I showed livestock for 11 years, and during my time in the program, I spent many State Fair encampments staying in Bailey Hall. During this time, I realized that the U of MN was the place that I was going to go to school. Initially, I was under the impression that I was going to be a veterinarian... only to realize that I am awful at chemistry and that wasn't going to work out for me.

A few conversations with my academic advisor later and I ended up double majoring in Agricultural Communications & Marketing and Animal Science. I graduated from the U of MN in the spring of 2019. I wanted to be able to tell the story of agriculture, and I am now in a position where I can encourage other young people to do the same. In my free time, I thoroughly enjoy going to livestock shows, admiring corgi puppies and spending time with family.

Why the University of Minnesota?
I love the University of Minnesota because of all the opportunities it provides to students, parents, faculty, and staff. This is an environment that allows dreams and goals to be met and provides an amazing network to lean on along the way.
