Communicating Food, Ag, and Environmental Science to the Public

This course provides an overview of the strategic communication principles of communicating food, agricultural, and environmental information and concepts to the public, on behalf of organizations. Students are exposed to basic context, theory, knowledge, and techniques used by professionals to engage audiences on science-based issues. Students research, write, and edit professional-level documents; they also learn fundamental content development tactics and channel strategies. We discuss how to share educational and promotional information across multiple platforms and develop goals, strategies and objectives to guide communication work.
