This course helps students learn how to research, write, produce and edit stories for agricultural, food and environmental organizations and media. We will discuss writing and editing in a variety of mass media and corporate settings. This course covers fundamental grammar rules, journalistic principles, AP-Style, researching sources, interviewing, content development tactics and basic channel strategy. Students produce a final portfolio that demonstrates their ability to create professional-level work such as magazine articles, news stories, biographies, sales and marketing materials, blog posts, press releases, newsletters, scripts and backgrounders.
