Teaching Internship

This course is designed as a capstone for students (i.e., teacher candidates) seeking licensure in agricultural education. Teacher candidates participate in a teaching internship at a school-based agricultural education program. Each teacher candidate works closely with the agricultural education teacher (i.e., cooperating teacher) at the school who serves in a mentor role. To encourage an immersion experience and to better understand their students’ personal, cultural, and community assets, teacher candidates are encouraged to live in or near the community where the school is located. The teaching internship provides teacher candidates with the opportunity to link research, theory, and practice in an authentic setting.
